Terms of service

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create a household or purchase a subscription. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials and emailed login codes private, and let us know promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. A Ronin account is a household: you may invite members, including family members who are at least 13 years old, and you are responsible for who you invite, including any minors in your household. Each member is responsible for their own conduct under these terms.

The service

Ronin provides tools for personal household budgeting: budgets, transaction tracking, savings pockets, reports, receipt scanning, and related features. The Free plan is available at no cost with the limits described on our pricing page. Premium is a paid subscription that adds additional features. Ronin does not connect to your bank and never asks for your bank credentials.

Subscriptions and billing

• Premium is billed through Stripe at the prices shown at checkout, monthly or yearly, and renews automatically until you cancel.
• New Premium subscriptions include a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged when the trial starts; your card is billed when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
• You can cancel at any time from settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Premium access until then. Except where required by law, fees already paid are not refunded for partial periods.
• If you cancel or downgrade, nothing is deleted: content beyond the Free plan limits is locked until you upgrade, and CSV export always remains available.
• We may change our prices; if we do, we will give you notice before any change applies to your next billing period.

Your content

The budgets, transactions, receipts, and other content you add to Ronin belong to you. You give us permission to host, store, and process that content solely to provide the service to you and your household, including sending receipt images to our AI provider to extract transaction details. We do not sell your content or use it for advertising. You can export your data as CSV or delete your account and data at any time.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Ronin for anything unlawful;
• probe, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' accounts;
• resell the service, or copy or reverse engineer it except where the law permits;
• upload content that is malicious or that you do not have the right to use.

Not financial advice

Ronin is a tool for organizing your own money. It does not provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and reports and calculations in the app depend on the data you enter. Decisions you make based on Ronin are your own responsibility.

Disclaimer of warranties

Ronin is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost, so keep exports of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ronin and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, savings, or data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or 50 US dollars if you have paid nothing. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Termination

You can stop using Ronin and delete your account at any time from settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and we may discontinue the service with reasonable advance notice, in which case you will have the opportunity to export your data first.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Ronin after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Ronin's operator resides, without regard to conflict of law principles, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless applicable law gives you the right to bring them elsewhere.
